Where can it be found
The Holy Cross Church is located along the main road in Kalutara South and takes a prominent place amidst the townscape. ( Just 01 Km from the clock tower). The church stands on an elevated site and faces the ocean, offering some great coastal views; it is little wonder that it has become a popular place for weddings too.
The exterior
The church can be reached via a flight of stairs and as you come up to its main doors you will notice such design elements as a clock in the center and across underneath. The outer facade is huge while you will also find a statue of the Virgin Mary outside under the title “The Immaculate Conception”.
The interior
The inside of the church is just as impressive with its high roof providing a vast space with distinctive arches, stained glass windows on top and across with the crucified Christ in the central part above the altar.
Attending mass
Those who wish to attend mass at the Holy Cross Church can do so as well; mass is at 07:00 am on Sundays and at 07:30 am on Saturdays. At 05:30 pm on Wednesdays, a Rosa Mystica Novena is also held.
